Stainless steel tanks are widely used in many high-pressure situations, because they are not only resistant to corrosion but also can withstand higher pressures. At the same time, stainless steel tank’s body sealing performance is excellent, effectively eliminating the invasion of harmful substances in the air and mosquitoes, ensuring that the liquid stored in the tank is not contaminated by outside and does not breed mosquitoes. Thus, big stainless steel drums are often used to store and transport food and medicine, and are widely used in the brewing and dairy industries, as well as for more precise pharmaceutical industry.
The smooth surface is an important feature of stainless steel products and is important to maintain the normal functioning of stainless steel products, so the polishing process of stainless steel products is very important.
In this article, we will talk about the production and the polishing of big stainless steel tanks.
Production
The walls of a big stainless steel tank are welded from multiple pairs of steel plates. The first step is to cut the stainless steel plate to the required size.
After the cutting is completed, machine rolls the steel rollers into a ring.
Also, use tools to fix shapes to prevent subsequent processing errors.
After the shape is fixed, the joint position is welded by welding machine.
Then, a big stainless steel storage tank was created.

polishing equipment
Due to the large size of the stainless steel, manual polishing will be time-consuming. It is recommended to use an automatic machine.
Automatic polishing device will place a stainless steel bucket on it and make it automatically rotate, while a manipulator polishes it.

Tank body polishing
The polishing process for big stainless steel tank body can be divided into two steps: sanding and polishing.
sanding
The final step in sanding is to sand the tank with a #600 abrasive belt. When the sanding is complete, you can move on to the polishing stage.
二、Polishing
You may choose the second or third of the following process steps according to your quality requirements
(1)Rough Polishing
consumables to match A solution: Use our Wave CS treatment wheel with our special 7-series coarse white rouge.
Consumables to match B solution : Use our disc sisal wheel with our special 7-series coarse white rouge. Its strong cutting power can quickly remove the roughness.

It can remove residual grain of last step, and lighten.
(3)Fine Polishing
Use our bleached riveted airway buffs with our special light receiving white rough (890-11) to meet the mirror finishing.
Tank Top Polishing Steps
The top of the tank can be polished directly with abrasive belt using the polishing equipment shown below. By moving through the upper manipulator, it can polish precisely onto the entire top.

If you want to consult on whether your product is suitable for our scheme, it is recommended to confirm the following parameters before consulting:
- The thickness of the two “heads” in the top (bottom) of the tank, whether they are molded using stainless steel 2D plates or not?
- The thickness of the tank body, whether they are molded using stainless steel 2D plates or not?
- The “tank body” has been sanded. May I ask how many sands have been completed? Whether to use the “flap wheel” processing?
- What are the final polish quality requirements for these three pieces?
